This clinic will empower educators to create string classrooms that are fundamentally trauma-informed by providing research-based practical tools and pedagogical approaches & sequencing that cultivate students’ safety and capacity to thrive. We will define trauma, discuss how to recognize trauma responses, and provide practical tools for regulating the nervous system. Through a vibrant and dynamic presentation utilizing slides, video, and group discussion, educators will be equipped with effective and innovative tools & strategies that create trauma-informed classrooms.

This clinic will empower El Sistema educators with a system for pedagogical sequencing and curriculum. Rooted in a collaboration of methodologies, priority will be given to creating a powerful sound in beginner string players. The primary focus will be on the first two years of foundational work starting from day one. The content will cover how to maximize sound production and a seamless transition from box instrument to real instruments. We will deep dive into fun and effective strategies that teach the fundamentals position and posture with pedagogical sequencing that create incredible bow arms/sound production, intonation and left hand set up. Free samples of StringRise curriculum will be provided for all participants. CEO Nicole Melrose will also share practical examples through videos that illustrate and implement the effectiveness of strategies.

In this workshop, educators will be given the tools to create culturally-responsive classrooms that support students to be seen and heard within their social locations. Participants will learn how to blend and develop frameworks from sociological and psychological theories into practical application for the string classroom. Priority will be focused on equity-rooted practices, culturally aware and sensitive repertoire selection, and classroom structures that promote safety. Programs will also be resourced practical examples of how to create culturally responsive community and parental relationships that are key to thriving programs. In addition, all attendees will have access to free resources provided by StringRise that will assist educators in their work throughout the school year.

Al a carte workshops are offered at $175 an hour. You can choose multiple workshops for 1-2 hour trainings, or a 3 hour intensive of a single workshop.

Intensive Trainings are 6 hours long, designed to provide educators and leaders with in-depth training, resources, and strategies that empower your team for a successful school year.

Priced at $750 for the entire day. Intensive Trainings are 6 hours long, and can be broken up over 2-3 days, or done in a single day. Workshops and lengths are tailored to your request.
